Education
Education This Congress will be especially busy with education issues – both the No Child Left Behind Act and the Higher Education Act are coming up for reauthorization this year My consideration of No Child Left Behind is focused around several different issues. These include; English Language Learners (ELL), Special Needs students, and insuring schools receive adequate funding for these students, which is why I am a co-sponsor of H.R. 526, the Full Funding for IDEA Now Act. The Higher Education Act is all about providing the financial means to students who want to pursue a postsecondary college or university education. Some areas of emphasis with this bill is ensuring that there is adequate funds to assure that all students who want to continue their education can, and to increase the maximum amount of Pell Grants for students who might choose to attend more expensive institution I have had the good fortune to have some meaningful outreach to community leaders in our district about education during the past several months. I have visited with students, hosted conferences, and sent out information about grants and scholarships as we receive them. The 28th District has the good fortune to have such a fine education infrastructure already in place. The quality and dedication of our educators, students, and parents is amazing. During the process of considering the No Child Left Behind and the Higher Education Act, I encourage you all to communicate with my office to share your ideas and experiences. Related Documents:
