U. Student Found Safe in Texas Video

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office has confirmed a University of Utah student who was allegedly kidnapped by her parents has been found safe in Texas. The parents of Danielle Alonso were said to have become furious after learning she had converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Alonso's father allegedly forced her into a rented car on Sunday morning. The Salt Lake County Sheriffs Office is flying a detective to Texas to speak with Danielle.

Several New Utah Laws Take Effect Video

319 new Utah laws went into effect Tuesday. Sending a text message while driving is now against the law. Texting while driving is a primary offense, so drivers can be pulled over and cited for it. Underage teens who send explicit photos via multimedia text messaging will no longer be charged with felonies. "Sexting" is now considered a misdemeanor. So-called "Zion Curtains," or glass walls separating drink-mixing areas and customers, are no longer required in restaurants serving alcohol.

Lawsuits Settled In 2007 Crandall Canyon Disaster

The owner and operator of Utah's Crandall Canyon mine has settled lawsuits filed by the families of the miners and rescuers who were killed or injured by two cave-ins in 2007. The settlement -- the largest in Utah mining history -- was signed Tuesday by lawyers for the defendants and family survivors of 12 men. Six miners were trapped by a thunderous collapse at Crandall Canyon in August 2007. Another collapse 10 days later killed three rescuers, including a federal mining inspector, and injured three others.

SLC Police Ask Public to Help Identify Car Prowlers Video

The Salt Lake City Police Department seeks to identify two car prowlers possibly involved with 10 vehicle burglary cases on three different occasions. Detectives believe that the two white male adults pictured in surveillance photos (see attached) were involved in at least 10 car prowls between April 30 and May 6, 2009, in the area between 100-500 South and 1000-1100 East. The suspects may have been driving a green, four-door Honda Accord or Saturn.

Pilots Shared Fear Of Icy Weather In Last Moments

Just seconds before the worst U.S. air crash in more than seven years, the pilot exclaimed "Jesus Christ" and moments later his first officer screamed as Flight 3407 plunged to the ground. A cockpit voice recorder transcript released Tuesday by the National Transportation Safety Board shows that only minutes before the Feb. 12 crash on approach to Buffalo Niagara International Airport, Captain Marvin Renslow and First Officer Rebecca Shaw chatted about her career and shared their fear of flying in icy weather.

Trump Says Miss California USA Can Retain Crown

Donald Trump has said Miss California USA, Carrie Prejean, can retain her crown. Trump, who owns the Miss USA pageant, made the announcement Tuesday at Trump Tower in New York City. The 21-year-old Prejean failed to reveal before last month's Miss USA pageant that she had posed in her underwear as a teenager. Trump says the pageant has determined the photos are "fine."

LDS Church Convert Kidnapped By Her Parents Video

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office is putting a 19-year-old University of Utah student on the endangered persons registry after she was kidnapped by her parents from Texas for converting to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Driver Suspended After Leaving Boy on Bus Video

A Box Elder County school bus driver is on suspension after a five-year-old autistic boy fell asleep on her bus and was later found wandering the streets. The boy, Dylan Snow, has autism spectrum disorder and dozed off as he was going to the early learning center preschool in Corinne.
