Unified Financial Management System

Unified Financial Management – One System, One Vision

The UFMS Program was established to manage the implementation of a new Financial Management System that will improve the financial and acquisitions operations within the Department and its Components. The future efficiency of financial management at Department of Justice (DOJ) depends to a large extent on implementation of a single, Department-wide accounting system.

The unification of DOJ financial management systems represents a singular opportunity to develop true Department-wide business practices and to implement a federally compliant core financial system. UFMS will provide DOJ with timely financial and acquisitions information available on demand, consolidated cross-component financial and acquisitions information, and standardized reporting across all of the Components.

Assistant Assistant Attorney General for Administration Lee J. Lofthus Message from the Assistant Attorney General for Administration & Chief Financial Officer

“We are firmly dedicated to fulfilling the Attorney General’s commitment to sound financial practices and financial management improvement goals…To aid in the remedy of those weaknesses, I remain committed to implementing uniform financial management practices across the Department, and committed to continued progress with our Unified Financial Management System project. The Department takes its financial accountability seriously, and I look forward to a productive year ahead, as we once again demonstrate that accountability to the American public.”

- Lee J. Lofthus, Assistant Attorney General for Administration & Chief Financial Officer, November 14, 2006

Deputy Assistant Attorney General (DAAG)/Controller, Jolene Lauria Sullens Message from the Deputy Assistant Attorney General (DAAG)/Controller

“I am 150 percent committed to achieving the goal of implementing a much needed Departmental financial management system. It is a detriment to the Department to continue to rely on disparate main-frame and home-grown legacy systems that cannot provide timely financial information. We must move toward an environment that allows users and stakeholders to make effective and strategic financial management decisions. My goal is simple – to ensure that the Department and its Component users implement the best enterprise-wide financial management system that first and foremost serves the critical missions of the Department while at the same time providing both the visibility and flexibility required to make strategic financial decisions.”

- Jolene Lauria Sullens, Deputy Assistant Attorney General (DAAG)/Controller, August 27, 2008
