MODIS Data at NSIDC |
MODIS Project SiteThe National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) archives and distributes snow and sea ice products derived from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the NASA Earth Observing System (EOS) Aqua and Terra satellites. Calibrated, geolocated radiance data from individual bands, and a series of geophysical products from land, ocean, and atmosphere disciplines are available from NASA's Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs); thus, NSIDC is one of NASA's DAACs. MODIS data helps scientists understand the Earth as a system, facilitating their ability to predict global climate changes and to differentiate between the impact of human activities and natural activities on the environment. MODIS data can assist policymakers around the world in making sound decisions concerning protection and management of our environment and resources. |
