About the Office: The Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA) is the Justice Department headquarters component for the 94 U.S. Attorneys Offices. Your office will be located in the Bicentennial Building at 600 E Street between 6th and 7th Street, NW. This location is ideally situated close to the-Archives/Navy Memorial & Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro. We are a short walk to museums on and around the Mall, and there are numerous restaurants and shops in the immediate area. Additionally, we offer employee-centered work life programs, as well as participation in the transit subsidy program. EOUSA was rated in the top 16 of 246 agencies and deemed a best place to work.

The Office of Legal Programs and Policy supports the United States Attorneys' Offices by administering programs and providing policy guidance and support for long-term and ongoing issues. As part of the Office of Legal Programs and Policy, the Legal Programs Staff provides support in the areas of affirmative civil enforcement, appellate issues, health care fraud, asset forfeiture, bankruptcy, bankruptcy fraud, civil defensive issues, domestic violence, electronic case filing, and environment. The Legal Programs Staff publishes newsletters and moderates discussion groups for USAOs on bankruptcy, health care fraud, and other areas.

The Office of Legal Program and Policy provides staffing and accountability in programs, and assists in the articulation, development, and promulgation of policy which comports with the overall goals of the USAOs, EOUSA and other components of the Department of Justice. We serve as a liaison between other components of the Department and the USAOs, and between the headquarters of other governmental organizations and the USAOs concerning issues related to the Legal Programs and Policy areas.

Responsibilities: The incumbent serves as an Assistant Director, Legal Programs Staff, with primary responsibility for planning, coordinating, implementing, and overseeing all activities of the staff. The incumbent is responsible for interpreting policies, defining objectives and making authoritative decisions which establish policies, precedents, and /or resolve technical and legal problems within the organization. As the Assistant Director of the Legal Programs Staff, the incumbent, exercises a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over a staff of senior attorney advisors and support staff responsible for carrying out the functions of the office.

Qualifications: Required qualifications: The successful candidate also can demonstrate sound judgment; good interpersonal skills; and a strong work ethic. Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least 4 years post-J.D. experience to qualify at the GS-15 level. Moreover, detailed knowledge of the mission, organization, statutory obligations, functions, procedures, practices, and priorities of the Department, EOUSA, and the USAOs, especially in assigned program areas, is desirable.

Evaluation Method: Qualified applicants may be further evaluated to determine those who are best qualified. Applicants must submit a writing sample.

Salary: GS-15 $120,830.00 - $153,200.00 per year (including locality pay).

Travel: Occasional travel will be required.

Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses will not be authorized.
