Payne Votes to Boost "Cash for Clunkers" Program
- Today, Congressman Donald M. Payne voted to increase funding for the "cash for clunkers" program. The initial launch has been so successful in encouraging Americans to trade in their old gas guzzlers for new fuel-efficient cars, that funding ran out and Congress is acting quickly to extend it. more

Payne Votes to Protect American Taxpayers, Shareholders by Reining in Executive Compensation
- Today, Congressman Donald M. Payne voted to protect American taxpayers and shareholders from the excessive and risky compensation practices at big financial firms that contributed to the collapse of the financial markets in the fall of 2008. The Corporate and Financial Institution Compensation Fairness Act, HR 3269, is the first piece of a larger regulatory reform package the US House of Representatives will take up in this fall to fulfill our commitment to rebuild our economy stronger and restore Americans’ faith in our financial system. more

Payne Votes for Landmark Legislation to Protect Public Health, Improve Food Safety
- Today, Congressman Donald M. Payne voted to better ensure the safety of the nation's food supply by improving inspections and oversight of the food we eat. The bipartisan Food Safety Enhancement Act, HR 2749, grants the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the authority and resources it needs to prevent food-borne illnesses from occurring and the tools to respond if they do. The legislation also increases the food industry's responsibility for overseeing the safety of their own products and provides the FDA with new and enhanced tools to hold them accountable when they fail. more
