more than $120 million in economic recovery funding released for weatherization projects across iowa, says harkin

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) announced today that a total of $121,380,411 in funding from the Economic Recovery Package has been released to Iowa from the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) for weatherization funding and energy efficient grants.  Harkin is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee that funds weatherization initiatives.

“Investing in energy saving programs not only saves homeowners money but also helps decrease the demand for foreign oil,” said Harkin.  “This funding also means that more low–income Iowans will be able to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer.”

The funds for weatherization will be allocated through local Community Action Programs throughout Iowa.  Details of the Grants are below.

Weatherization- $80,834,411
