Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) for College Students with Disabilities
This program provides summer federal internships for college students with disabilities. Individuals hired through this program may be non competitively converted into excepted or career-conditional appointments, including the Career Development Intern Program.
DoD Information Assurance Scholarship Program (IASP)
This program is designed to increase the number of qualified personnel entering the information assurance (IA) and information technology (IT) fields within DoD. It serves as a way to recruit those who will help strengthen the IA infrastructure, while also assisting DoD in addressing emerging IA and IT issues.
Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Defense Scholarship Program
This program recruits rising junior and senior undergraduates and graduate students in science, math, engineering, or a closely related discipline. Upon degree completion, individuals may be non competitively hired into the Career Development Intern Program.
Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) Mobility Programs
DISA receives detailees from other non-federal institutions as IPA assignees. Those recruited through the IPA include program managers, project managers, and electronic engineers. These employees support the implementation and deployment of the Public Key Infrastructure security software, software/ hardware management, and computer security/computer systems integration. Also, DISA employees may participate in IPA assignments with local high schools, and use their technical expertise to help the school solve information technology challenges. This creates a positive working relationship between DISA and the school and community. It also provides an opportunity to showcase what DISA does and possibly encourage students to seek IT careers.
