Ft. Meade Post

Will DISA employees have commissary priviledges when we relocate to Ft. Meade?

ANSWER: The Department of Defense (DOD 1330.17R) has very specific guidance concerning designation of authorized Commissary patrons (i.e., uniformed personnel, retired military personnel, Reserve and Fleet Reserve personnel, and spouses and dependents). Government employees (other than the aforementioned categories) are not authorized Commissary privileges by law.

As a DISA civilian employee, can I be considered for on-post housing at Fort Meade?

ANSWER: Yes, you can be considered for on-post family housing at Fort Meade. You are eligible for Privatized Family Housing at Fort Meade if you are an active duty service member assigned to an installation within 50 miles of Fort Meade, a military retiree, or a federal employee. However, first priority for this housing is for active duty military. Occupancy of on-post family housing by federal employees and military retirees is on a space available basis only. For more details on housing rules and requirements call the Leasing and Relocation Center at (410) 305-1258, or log onto http://www.meadepicerne.com. Additional information on bachelor and transient housing can be found at www.ftmeade.army.mil/pages/rci/housing.html.

I've heard there are only two gates into Ft. Meade. If this is true, is there a plan to open other gates to allow for the additional traffic caused by the BRAC?

Fort Meade actually has six gates, five of which are currently open. A complete listing of gate hours is available on the Post Web site.
