FMC DECLINES TO GRANT PORT FEE SERVICES AGREEMENT'S REQUEST FOR EXPEDITED REVIEW

By a 2-1 vote, the Federal Maritime Commission declined to grant the Port Fee Services Agreement's (FMC Agreement No. 201199) request for expedited review of their agreement. The Commission determined that the agreement parties had not provided adequate cause to grant their request for a review in less than the statutory 45-day waiting period. The Commission is committed to completing its analysis of the Agreement's likely effect on transportation costs and services, as quickly as possible. Such analysis is required of the Commission as mandated by the Shipping Act of 1984.
