Environment

America is a nation rich with natural beauty, history and culture. I will never forget my childhood summers when my parents put me and my siblings in the car and drove us to our national parks. Experiencing the magnificence of this nation from an early age gave me a profound respect for our natural resources and a drive to ensure their sustainability. As a Member of Congress, I am fortunate to exercise this passion on the federal level by working to protect the natural beauty and resources this country offers. I am proud to have passed into law the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Act, obtain funding to help restore the Salton Sea and to have led tours of our mountains on foot and horseback to bring a greater appreciation for the beauty of our own backyard to lawmakers. Just as I had the opportunity to experience this country's natural landscape as a child, I believe that this invaluable resource must be sustained for future generations to enjoy.
