******** Brief Description of the hearing:
The Office of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) play critical roles in the advancement of a national strategy for electronic health records. Recent analysis by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) of the VA and DoD health care information sharing systems and programs developed so far indicate that opportunities remain to implement cost-saving measures, maximize resources, share critical strategic planning information, and to determine programmatic performance measures.
