Description: |
Registered Geologists study composition, structure, and history of the earth's crust; examine rocks, minerals and fossil remains to identify and determine the sequence of processes affecting the development of the earth; apply knowledge of chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics to explain these phenomena and to help locate mineral and petroleum deposits, underground water resources, and geologic risks, (i.e. fault lines and landslides); prepare geologic reports and maps, interpret research data and recommend further study or action. |

Examination Information: |
Exam Time: Nationally set, March and October. Exam Schedule Exam Locs: Salem. Exam Pass: 70 percent or higher Exam Repeat: After two failures to pass exam, an applicant shall provide to the Board satisfactory evidence of further preparation. |
Prerequisites: |
1. Degree in Geology or related earth science. Must have at least 45 qtr credit in geology, 36 of which must be upper division credits. 2. Seven years experience (two years credit maybe earned for an undergraduate degree; an additional one year credit maybe granted for a master's degree; work experience under the direct supervision of a Registered Geologist). 3. Pass National Board Fundamental (GIT) and Practice exams for RG Registration. |
