The US Green Building Council Acknowledges the Energy Benefits of CHP Systems by Developing a Methodology to Calculate LEED Credit
The ORNL team, led by Jan Berry, worked with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Committee to provide information on CHP energy generation and use and to facilitate deliberations regarding an appropriate methodology for calculating LEED credits for CHP systems. CHP Capacity Optimizer Development Completed
A CHP Capacity Optimizer is a spreadsheet-based tool for determining the optimum combination of prime mover and absorption chiller capacities in CHP applications. Fact sheet, spreadsheet and user’s manual for the optimizer can be downloaded online.
The HUD CHP Screening Tool Development Completed
Completed with the collaborative efforts of the U.S. Departments of Energy (DOE) and the Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the HUD CHP Screening Tool is a useful tool for performing a first order of screening of multifamily buildings for their potential for economic installation and operation CHP systems.
