The Freedom of Information Act allows the public access to records in the possession of public agencies upon written request. A public record can be any record, report, form, writing, letter, memoranda, book, paper, map, photograph, card, tape, recording, electronic data processing record, recorded information and all other documentary material received, possessed or under control of a public body. Please be advised that there are several exemptions to disclosure under FOIA and copying fees may apply (5 ILCS 140/7).
