This certification allows the holder to instruct the boating safety course, "Boat Oregon - A Course on Responsible Boating", to boaters in communities throughout Oregon. The "Boat Oregon" course is a high quality, low cost course designed to promote safe boating practices reduce boating accidents, injuries, and violations on Oregon waters. |

Prerequisites: |
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Pass a criminal history check conducted by the Marine Board Law Enforcement Division.
- Have successfully completed a boating safety course approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and have an Oregon Boater Education Card.
- Have a minimum of one year of power boating experience.
- Have a minimum of 60 hours teaching and/or public speaking experience.
- Ability to conduct classes in a professional manner, be a role model for students, accept other peoples values and opinions and interact with the public in a polite and helpful manner.

Renewals: |
Renewal is automatic as long as the certificate is kept current. The certificate is current if you:- Teach or co-teach at least two courses per year
- Attend training sessions to receive updates as required
