Spartina Survey Trainings, held from July through mid-September, are for paddlers interested in becoming survey volunteers.  Paddlers will receive a formal training on all things Spartina and be instructed on how to gather data on infestations.  Following these trainings, paddlers will be ready to conduct their own surveys. Help Stewardship Partners build rain gardens at these dates and locations. Join our hands-on workshop where you will learn all you need to design and install a beautiful rain garden at home. A rain garden is a shallow depression in a yard planted with a variety of flowers, shrubs and grasses that "don’t mind getting their feet wet." Learn how rain gardens help soak up rainwater from downspouts, driveways, and sidewalks, while protecting our local waterways.Free! Email ba@stewardshippartners.org or call (206) 292-9875. October 22-24 All day Urban Waterfronts 27: Sustainable Solutions
Seattle Waterfront Marriott, Seattle, WA

The Waterfront Center's 27th annual international conference on  waterfront planning, development and culture will feature 33 speakers including a keynote presentation by aerial photographer Alex Mac Lean and a final presentation by Johnpaul Jones and Jane Jacobsen who will discuss the Confluence Project on the Columbia River. The 23rd Annual Excellence on the Waterfront Honor Awards will be announced and presented on Friday, October 23rd.
