The relationship between the United Nations and the international business community has grown over the past several years due to a series of partnerships and alliances between the Organization and the private sector. The result has been a new standard of responsibility for business, as well as cooperation between business and the Organization in meeting the UN Millennium Development Goals.

Millennium Development GoalsThe international business community is working with the UN system and civil society in order to help achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

UN Global CompactThe UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

UN Office for PartnershipsThe UN Office for Partnerships promotes new United Nations partnerships and alliances, engages corporations, foundations and civil society to achieve the millennium development goals, and is the interface between the UN Foundation and the United Nations system. It is also the institutional hub for the United Nations Democracy Fund.

UN FoundationMany international corporations have joined the UN Foundation as partners, in order to help solve global problems. The UN Foundation was set up through a $1 billion gift from entrepreneur Ted Turner.
