July 6-9, 2009: Office of Civil Rights (OCR) »

A number of DOT managers and staff, their county counterparts, and other subrecipients of federal transportation dollars will be attending training on civil rights issues on July 6-9, 2009. The training will be conducted by the Federal Highway Administration, by means of videoconferencing. The purpose of the training is to provide guidance to DOT and county subrecipients of their various civil rights responsibilities as a condition for receiving federal transportation dollars. There are also new requirements for the DOT as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

July 9, 2009: Statewide Transportation Planning Office (STP) »

STP and consultant, SSFM International, will be having a Kick-off Meeting to present the workplan schedule and major deliverables for the Hawaii Statewide Transportation Plan Update. The second part of the Kick-off Meeting will be to discuss how the Aging Population will impact Transportation Policy. Jana Lynott, Strategic Policy Advisor for the AARP Public Policy Institute for Independent Living and Long Term Care, will be a guest speaker. Invited agencies include the Department of Health, Aging Resource Agencies, County Area Agency Office on Aging, and several Senior Centers.
