Minnesota Management & Budget is required by Minnesota Statute 3.987 to coordinate the development of local impact notes. Local impact notes provide an estimate of the fiscal impact of proposed legislation on local units of government and are requested by the chair or ranking minority member of either tax committee. To determine a statewide estimate for a particular bill, the Minnesota Management & Budget gathers and analyzes data from local governments and local government associations in the state.
