Cookies

Cookies are simple text files stored on your computer by your web browser. They provide a method of distinguishing among visitors to a Website.

Minnesota Management & Budget uses cookies in only the following places on our Website.

In the Vendor Payments section of the Website a session cookie is used to ensure the security of the transaction and the time-out provision of the transaction. The cookie is deleted at the conclusion of the active session.

In the EMRS section of the site a session cookie keeps track of the page the user is currently on for navigation purposes. The cookie only stores the page number. The cookie is deleted at the conclusion of the active session.

Also in the EMRS section, a cookie is written to the hard disk on your computer to store the scale that you prefer to view reports at. If you change the scaling factor to, for example, 125%, then every time you view reports after that you will automatically see them at 125% when you use that ReportCast to view reports (unless you change it again). The only information included in this cookie is the name of the ReportCast server machine, and the scale percentage.

On occasion we may use a cookie as part of an on-line survey, but only for the purpose of preventing users from completing the survey multiple times. If used, this cookie contains only the name of the survey and we use the cookie solely to identify that a user has previously completed the survey. If such a cookie is used it is designed to expire in conjunction with the end of the survey.

Some agency pages to which this Website links may be employing cookies. Other state agencies have developed their own privacy policies and you may look to these to see whether or not cookies are being employed on those agencies' Websites. Generally, you can refuse a cookie or delete the cookie file from your computer by using any of the widely available methods, including options in your browser program.
