NEWARK, NJ — Soccer fans attending the Gold Cup final at Giants Stadium on Sunday, July 26 have something else to cheer about—a convenient, affordable travel option via the new Meadowlands Rail Line, which will operate for select stadium events of 50,000 fans or more starting with the championship soccer match.

The new line gives fans statewide rail access to the Meadowlands Sports Complex from 11 of 12 NJ TRANSIT rail lines, with connections at Hoboken Terminal and Frank R. Lautenberg Station at Secaucus Junction.

What fans need to know:

  • On Sunday, July 26, the first train will depart Hoboken at 11:30 a.m. and Secaucus Junction at 11:40 a.m., arriving at the Meadowlands at 11:53 a.m.
  • Trains will operate between Hoboken, Secaucus Junction and the Meadowlands Rail Station approximately every 10 to 20 minutes before and after the game.
  • After Sunday’s game, the last train will depart the Meadowlands at 6:48 p.m. and stop at Secaucus Junction at 7:01 p.m., arriving in Hoboken at 7:13 p.m.

Travel tips:

  • Purchase round-trip tickets in advance from any NJ TRANSIT rail ticket vending machine or ticket office.  Select “Meadowlands Sports Complex” as your destination.  (On older ticket vending machines, use station code 410.)
  • On Sunday, July 26, off-peak roundtrip tickets (ORT) may be used for travel to the Meadowlands Rail Station.  (ORT tickets may be used for travel to the Meadowlands at all times except departing New York Penn Station weekdays between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.)
  • On the train, present your ticket to the conductor.  If you are connecting at Secaucus Junction, your ticket will be returned to you.
  • Customers connecting from Northeast Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line trains must use their ticket to pass through the fare gates at Secaucus Junction.  Each ticket will open the fare gate one time.
