• DOT and TSA open new Kona Airport security lane to improve peak hour service
August 18, 2009 -- The state Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the implementation of a new passenger security screening lane which will begin operating in September 2009 at Kona International Airport’s North Terminal.
• H-1 Freeway School Street On-Ramp To Reopen Afternoons, Evenings
After a month-long closure, the westbound School Street on-ramp to the H-1 Freeway will reopen to afternoon and evening traffic beginning on Saturday, August 15, at 3:30 p.m.
• Giant Mosaic Mural To Commemorate Hawaii's 50th Anniversay of Statehood Unveiled at Honolulu International Airport
August 7, 2009 -- As part of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Hawai‘i’s statehood, a giant mosaic mural featuring artwork by students nationwide was unveiled today at the Honolulu International Airport. Made up of over 8,000 unique images, the mural was created as a lasting tribute to our state. Lt. Governor James R. “Duke” Aiona, Jr. and student artists unveiled the mural at a ceremony.
• New Economy Lot To Open And Grace Period For Parking Implemented As Statewide Parking Rates Increase
July 31, 2009 -- The state Department of Transportation (DOT) is advising air travelers of new parking rates at Hawaii airports throughout the state. This will be the first parking rate increase at Hawaii airports since 1993 and it aims to offset the capital costs of parking improvements under the Airports Modernization Plan.
• H-1 Freeway School Street On-Ramp Closure Begins Sunday Night, 7/19
7/16: The westbound H-1 Freeway School Street on-ramp will be closed continuously for approximately one month beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night, July 19, through 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, August 15, for repair of an adjacent retaining wall.
