E-Rate

E-Rate Resources

E-rate provides discounts to assist most libraries and schools in the United States to obtain affordable telecommunications, internet access, internal connections and basic maintenance.

The Arizona Department of Education serves as the liaison between state public education systems and the SLD. This website provides assistance and resources to help with the forms and procedures for applying for the discounted services.

September 2008 Arizona E-Rate Update

This month's news brief includes the fall E-Rate training schedule. ADE and the state libraries agency (ASLAPR) will be offering E-Rate trainings at various locations throughout the state, as well as E-Rate FY2009 update webinars for experienced applicants. Please see below for a schedule of the trainings. The newsbrief for September also contains information about technology plan updates and guidance for creating 1 year "gap" plans while ADE is revising the state educational technology plan.

Fall 2008 E-Rate Training Schedule

  • ABCs of E-Rate
  • Description: This face-to-face training is primarily for new applicants or applicants with 2 or less years of E-Rate experience. It will provide a brief overview of the entire E-Rate process and rules associated with the program. Attendees will also go through a practice application process for the 470 and 471 process to help familiarize them with best practices for filling out the forms and how to avoid “gotchas” that can cause problems for your application. Proper document retention, the role of tech planning, and how to leverage state master contracts will also be discussed. Lunch is provided.

    • October 6th, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm (Carnegie Library, 99 South 12th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona)
    • October 23rd, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (Tucson Ampitheater School District Governing Board Room, 701 W Wetmore Road, Tucson, Arizona)
    • November 7th, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (Flagstaff Unified School District Governing Board Room, 3285 E. Sparrow Ave., Flagstaff, AZ)

  • E-Rate Updates for Experienced Applicants
  • Description: This training will be delivered via a webinar so attendees can listen and participate from their own offices. The content will be targeted for experienced E-Rate applicants who have at least 2 years of experience with the E-Rate program. The main topics that will be covered are: state master contracts, preparing for audits, cost allocating ineligible services and students, and maximizing your discount strategies. Updates from USAC for the upcoming funding year will also be shared.

    • October 14th, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm - (webinar)
