The Pesticide Control Program
(PCP) is primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with
federal and state laws and regulations regarding the use,
sale, transport, disposal, manufacture, and storage of pesticides
in the state of New Jersey. It also promotes pollution prevention
and pesticide use reduction through training and outreach
activities involving Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The
Program consists of the Administrator's Office and two Bureaus.
The Administrator's
Office establishes policy for the PCP and serves as the
liaison with the regulated community, other agencies, and the
general public. It provides guidance on regulations development
and input on proposed legislation. In addition, the Office manages
fiscal and personnel issues, EPA grants and the National Environmental
Performance Partnership System (NEPPS) process. The Pesticide
Control Council, through the PCP, serves as the governor's advisory
board on pesticide issues for the Department.
