| Description: |
This license allows the holder to repair and maintain electrical equipment of a type normally found in an industrial plant, commercial office buildings, buildings owned or operated by the state, or a local government entity or institution. Electrical work is limited to 600 volts and less.

| Examination Information: |
Applicants approved to take an examination will be sent a "Letter of Authorization." This letter will explain the procedure for taking the examination and the address and telephone number of the test site selected.
Examination date and time is scheduled by the applicant with the test site office personnel. Upon arrival at the test site, the applicant must provide photo identification and a Letter of Authorization. If the examination is not taken within 60 days of the date of the authorization letter the applicant must submit a re-application form with the appropriate fee to schedule another exam date.
If the applicant fails the test they may re-apply at any time and test no sooner than 30 days after each failed exam.
Applicants are requested to bring their own pencils and calculator; scratch paper will be provided. Programmable calculators and laptop computers are not permitted.
Please allow two weeks for Building Codes Division to grade exams. Do not contact the test location for grade results. The Building Codes Division will mail notification of grade results to the applicant. Licenses will be issued after the applicant has passed the examination.
Limited Maintenance electrician examination:
Open-book examination: 28 multiple-choice questions (two-hour time limit).

Licensing and Certification Examination Process |
| Continuing Ed Requirements: |
During each three-year license period, all licensees shall complete a minimum of 8 hours of approved continuing education. Of these required continuing education hours you must have a minimum of 8 hours code change, unless otherwise directed by the board. | Prerequisites: |
Complete a two-year apprenticeship program or provide proof of equivalent experience as outlined in ORS 479.630 (5) and OAR 918-282-0240. Submit two years (4,000 hours) work experience.
A. Submit a copy of your high school diploma or transcript, a GED certificate, or a military record (DD214) showing proof of high school completion.
B. Submit proof of related classroom training as outlined in OAR 918-282-0240.
C. Pass a written examination. |
