Description: Examples of Water-Related Activities


Bridges & culverts ---> Structures for waterway crossings.

Dams & impoundments ---> Barrier constructed across a waterway to control the flow of water.

Fish habitat enhancement ---> Projects constructed for the sole purpose of improving habitat conditions for fish.

Instream Gravel Removal ---> Removal of aggregate below the ordinary high water elevation of a waterway.

Piling projects ---> Installation or removal of piling such as for over-water structures including docks, wharves, piers, platforms, and dolphins.

Navigational maintenance dredging ---> Removal of sediment below the ordinary high water elevation of a waterway to establish or maintain navigability.

Small scale recreational placer mining ---> Mining for precious minerals within placer deposits using non-motorized equipment or motorized dredges (intake nozzle 4 in. or less diameter).

Streambank stabilization ---> Grading, placement of material, or planting on a stream-bank to prevent or limit erosion.

Utility lines & outfalls ---> Placement of utility lines (e.g., gas, sewer, water, communications) or outfall structures in wetlands or waterways.

Water diversions ---> Diversion of water (e.g., by pumping, intake, & other control devices) from streams and lakes for agricultural, domestic, industrial, and municipal uses.

Wetland fills or removals ---> The placement or removal of material within a wetland.

Wetland restoration or enhancement ---> Projects constructed for the specific purpose of restoring or enhancing a wetland.
