If a licensee engages in practice at multiple locations, the Optometry Board may issue a license for practicing at multiple locations. This license shall be conspicuously displayed at each location prior to practicing there.
An optometrist (also called doctor of optometry or optometric physician in Oregon), is a health care practitioner trained to diagnose signs of ocular, neurological, and systemic health problems and treat vision disorders. A qualified optometrist may be certified by the Oregon Board of Optometry to use, administer, and prescribe topical and systemic therapeutic drugs, to treat eye diseases and injuries, and perform other procedures such as foreign body removal. All optometrists may prescribe glasses and contact lenses.

Continuing Ed Requirements: |
Every licensed doctor of optometry shall complete not less than 15 hours of clinical optometric courses per license year as a condition of license renewal. Credit towards the 15 hours shall be allowed in a succeeding license year for excess hours taken in the preceding license year. Continuing education hours will cover 12-month periods and be reported with license renewal applications. |
