Description: Certified mental health examiners examine alleged mentally ill persons going to a civil commitment hearing.

Duration: Up to three years
Fees - application, exam, etc.:  None
Responsible Agency: DHS - Addictions and Mental Health
Fee Exemptions: None
Examination Information: Must attend Civil Commitment Investigator/Examiner Training provided by the Office of Mental and Addiction Services. Exam is administered at the training.
Continuing Ed Requirements: Eight hours every three years.
Bonding Requirements: None
Insurance Requirements: None
Prerequisites: Must be a Qualified Mental Health Professional with 3 years of experience, Must have 2 letters of recommendation from Qualified Mental Health Professionals and be recommended by the Community Mental Health Program Director.

Renewals: Prerequisites
Must be recommended by the Community Mental Health Program Director and present evidence of the required continuing education credits.
