Description: A licensed Oregon chiropractic physician may apply for additional certification to perform minor surgery and/or proctology in their chiropractic practice.

Continuing Ed Requirements: 12 hours required every three years. The 12 hours may be part of the standard annual 20 hour requirement (not necessarily in addition to).

Prerequisites: 1. 36 hours of undergraduate or postgraduate education in minor surgery/proctology (MS/Proc).
2. Make application to the Oregon Board of Chiropractic with a proposed "rotation plan" for practical experience under the guidance of one or more licensed physicians (including, but not limited to DCs, MDs, or NDs). The rotation plan must include no less than 25 MS/Proc cases. Of the 25 cases, no less than five (5) are performed solely by the applying chiropractic physician and observed by the supervising physician. The applicant will observe or assist the supervising physician in the remainder of the cases. Adequate documentation of the procedures must be maintained and provided to the licensing board. The applicant must meet an established set of minimum competencies as determined by the Board's Minor Surgery/Proctology Review Commiteee.
