Examination Information: |
Applicants approved to take an examination will be sent a "Letter of Authorization." This letter will explain the procedure for taking the examination and the address and telephone number of the test site selected.
Examination date and time is scheduled by the applicant with the test site office personnel. Upon arrival at the test site, the applicant must provide photo identification and a Letter of Authorization. If the examination is not taken within 60 days of the date of the authorization letter the applicant must submit a re-application form with the appropriate fee to schedule another exam date.
If the applicant fails the exam they may re-apply at anytime and test no sooner than 30 days after each failed exam.
Applicants are requested to bring their own pencils and calculator; scratch paper will be provided. Programmable calculators and laptop computers are not permitted.
Please allow two weeks for Building Codes Division to grade exams. Do not contact the test location for grade results. The Building Codes Division will mail notification of grade results to the applicant. Licenses will be issued after the applicant has passed the examination.
The examination for the Limited Journeyman Manufacturing plant license is an Open-book examination with 52 multiple-choice questions (three-hour time limit). Only the following materials are permitted for OPEN-BOOK examinations:- Current NEC Book

Continuing Ed Requirements: |
During each three-year license period, all licensees shall complete a minimum of 16 hours of approved continuing education. Of these 16 required continuing education hours you must have a minimum of 8 hours code change, unless otherwise directed by the board. Prerequisites: |
A. Complete an approved apprenticeship program or submit proof of equivalent experience, as outlined in ORS 479.630 (5)and OAR 918-282-0190. Submit four years (8,000 hours) work experience.
B. Submit a copy of your high school diploma or transcript, a GED certificate, or a military record (DD214) showing proof of high school completion.
C. Submit proof of related classroom training as outlined in OAR 918-282-0190.
D. Pass a written examination. |
