Kids' Farm Interpreter Program

The Kids’ Farm exhibit is a special place for children ages three to eight years old to learn and discover new things about animals that live on a farm. The exhibit stresses the importance of caring for animals and explores where some of the food that children and adults eat every day comes from.

The Caring Corral introduces children to animals that typically live on a farm, such as cows, goats, and donkeys. Here, children can help groom animals in a supervised environment. Volunteers help children learn the basics of caring for animals by supervising the contact area.

In addition, the farm has a play area that provides a fun way for kids to learn where the ingredients come from that go into making a veggie pizza.

While largely geared toward children, Kids’ Farm also provides a forum for education on topics relating to food resources. Interpreters interact informally with Kids’ Farm visitors through brief exchanges of basic information and in-depth discussions of complex topics.

Special qualifications: A strong interest in agriculture and farming, interested in working with children, flexibility, good communication skills, and an eagerness to interact with a wide variety of visitors.
