Description: Naturopathic Physicians are primary care physicians that diagnose, treat, and care for patients using a system of practice that bases treatment of physiological functions and abnormal conditions on natural laws and substances governing human body.

Fees - application, exam, etc.:  National Part I (basic science) and Part II (clincial science) exams are administered through the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE. Fees for these exams vary.
State examination on Jurisprudence and Formulary is $150. Original License: $150.
Renewal: Annual renewal fee is $275 as of June 10, 2008.
Duplicate license: $25.00

Examination Information:
  • Exam Time: Twice a year for NPLEX; 4 times a year for Oregon Jurisprudence and Formulary examinations
  • Exam Locs: Varies, but usually Portland
  • Exam Pass: 75 percent or higher

Continuing Ed Requirements: 25 hours continuing education each year, of which 5 must be in pharmacology. Three hours every three years in Ethics; and a one-time pain education is required by the Department of Human Services for the State of Oregon.

2. Graduate from approved naturopathic college
3. Pass National Basic Science and Clinical examinations and pass exams given by Naturopathic Board

Renewals: Annual renewal for an active, inactive, natural childbirth certificate and retired status.
