Description: Apply if you have a bachelor's degree related to teaching at one or more levels and wish to replace teachers temporarily unable to work for short periods. If you have not completed an approved teacher education program in any state or been licensed as a full-time teacher in any state, your employer must co-apply for this license, and it will be restricted to 60 days total use during each school year.

"Substitute teacher" means any teacher who is employed to take the place of a probationary or contract teacher who is temporarily absent.

Examination Information: Exam Time: Praxis PPST: January, March, April, June, September and November.
CBEST: February, April, June, August, October and December.
Exam Locs: CBEST: Ashland, Bend, Eugene, La Grande, Monmouth, Ontario and Portland.
Praxis PPST: Ashland, Bend, Coos Bay, Corvallis, Eugene, La Grande, Monmouth, Portland and St. Helens
Exam Pass: Praxis PPST: Reading (174), Writing (171), and Mathematics (175). CBEST: Total score of 123. The lowest possible score for passing a content area is 37, provided the passing total score of 123 is achieved.
Exam Repeat: Unlimited.
Continuing Ed Requirements: Continuing Professional Development for Licensure Renewal

Prerequisites: 1. Complete a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
2. Complete approved teacher education program; OR hold a current license issued by another state and valid for the endorsement area.
3. Must pass either the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) OR the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) OR verify completion of a doctorate degree through a regionally accredited college or university.
4. Pass subject matter exam(s) in endorsement area(s) or verify five years of successful full-time employment in a licensed position in an out-of-state public school or private regionally accredited school.
