This apprenticeship leads to the Limited Maintenance Electrician license. Limited maintenance electricians maintain, repair and replace electrical installations on the premises of industrial plants where the individual is employed, or on electrical systems that are less than 600 volts phase to phase on the premises of commercial office buildings or buildings occupied by the state or a local government entity where the individual is employed.

Fees - application, exam, etc.: |
Most apprenticeship programs do not charge an application fee although a few charge a modest fee of up to $25. Apprentices are expected to pay tuition and for books, normally about $400 to $500 per year, although in many cases, these costs are paid by the employer or reimbursed to the apprentice by the apprenticeship committe. |

Prerequisites: |
Apprenticeship applicants must be at least 17 years of age to apply, and 18 to begin the program. In addition, they must provide proof of high school graduation or equivalent general education development (GED) certificate. They must also complete at least one year of high school math or equivalent post-high school math course or provide equivalent math placement test results. Apprenticeship committees may require additional qualifications.
These programs are only open to employees of training agents registered with the local apprenticeship committee. |
