Description: |
Backflow prevention assemblies must be tested by a certified backflow assembly tester annually, at minimum. This certification expires June 30 of every odd year.
"Backflow Prevention Assembly" means a backflow prevention device such as a pressure vacuum breaker, spill resistant pressure vacuum breaker, a double check valve or a reduced pressure principle device, and the attached shut off valves on the inlet and outlet ends of the device assembled as a complete unit.

Examination Information: |
A Department-approved Backflow Assembly Tester training course must be attended and successfully completed within 12 months prior to the Department's receipt of the applicant's completed application. A minimum score of 75% is required to pass the Department-approved backflow assembly tester written examination. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass the Department-approved backflow assembly tester hands-on proficiency examination. |
Continuing Ed Requirements: |
Applicants for renewal of a Backflow Assembly Tester certificate must have attended and successfully completed a Department-approved tester recertification course within the previous two years. See exam information above. |

Registration by the Construction Contractors Board or Licensure by the Landscape Contractors Board may be required. |
