Letters of Support

BTOP applicants who make it to the second phase of the NTIA review process can request a letter of support from the Governor and the State of Illinois.

After they conduct an initial screen of all applications, the NTIA will provide Illinois --and the office of every state Governor-- an opportunity to recommend, prioritize, and explain their reasons for supporting BTOP projects.

All states will have 20 calendar days (from a TBD date set by the NTIA) to offer input on projects the NTIA asks them to consider. It is not known how many projects each state, including Illinois, will be asked to review.

At this point the BIP does not include a similar formal review process for states.

Further guidance regarding project support letter requests will be posted here as soon as possible.
