Description: Certified Chiropractic Assistants shall be directly supervised by the chiropractor at all times. The scope of services to be performed by a certified Chiropractic Assistant may include: hydrotherapy (the application of heat and cold); electrotherapy; physiotherapy (therapeutic massage, traction, instruction in home therapies and exercises, instruction in the use of structural supports, crutches, walkers or canes); patient positioning and draping; and note taking and charting. The scope of practice does not include performing physical examinations, taking x-rays or performing osseous adjustments or manipulations.

Prerequisites: 1. Successfully complete a Board-approved initial training course. The initial training course shall be at least six hours in length, four hours of which must be in physiotherapy, electrotherapy and hydrotherapy, and must have been completed within the 12 months preceding the application date.
2. Complete an application form and an open-book examination supplied by the Board.
3. Shall be at least 18 years of age.

  • Complete appropriate continuning education for credit.
  • Maintain documentation for two years.

Duplicate: A duplicate may be issued in case original certificate is lost or damaged, and if a CCA is employed with one or more chiropractic physicians.
