Description: |
This apprenticeship leads to the General Journeyman Electrician license. Inside electricians perform electrical installations, construction, maintenance, repair and service. They work on electrical construction projects ranging from single-family residences to state-of-the-art industrial plants. They install conduits and wire lighting, switches, converters, and complex computerized systems.

Fees - application, exam, etc.: |
Most apprenticeship programs do not charge an application fee although a few charge a modest fee of up to $25. Apprentices are expected to pay tuition and for books, normally about $400 to $500 per year, although in many cases, these costs are paid by the employer or reimbursed to the apprentice by the apprenticeship committee. |

Prerequisites: |
Apprenticeship applicants must be at least 17 years of age to apply, and 18 to begin the program. In addition, they must provide proof of high school graduation or equivalent general education development (GED) certificate. They must also complete at least one year of high school algebra or equivalent post-high school algebra course with a passing grade of C, or provide equivalent math placement test results. Apprenticeship committees may require additional qualifications. |
