Description: A Wildlife scientific Taking permit is required to capture or handle the following wildlife in Oregon:
  • Fur-bearing mammals
  • Threatened species
  • Endangered species
  • Game birds
  • Game mammals
  • Wildlife protected under OAR 635-044-0130

Required Documentation: Your application for the Scientific Taking Permit must contain:
    1) Completed application,
    2) A detailed description of your project or educational need (e.g. study plan or project proposal), and
    3) $11.50 fee

Time Frame:
Application must be submitted four to six weeks prior to project's start date. Once application is deemed complete and approved, a permit is issued.
