Description: Teachers direct learning in classes, small groups, individual situations, and the library. Teachers may also have an assignment involving leadership responsibilities such as the planning and development of curriculum, organization and maintenance of professional growth programs, if neither supervision or evaluation is required.

Duration: Initial 3 years, Continuing 5 years
Fees - application, exam, etc.:  Examination: Praxis PPST: $35 each section, CBEST: $41.
Original License: $100 ($120 for out-of-state prepared applicants).
Renewal: $100 (Initial Teaching License must be renewed every three years; Continuing Teaching License must be renewed every five years).
Responsible Agency: Teacher Standards and Practices Commission
Examination Information: Exam Time: Praxis PPST: January, March, April, June, September and November.
CBEST: February, April, June, August, October and December.
Exam Locs: CBEST: Ashland, Bend, Eugene, La Grande, Monmouth, Ontario and Portland.
Praxis PPST: Ashland, Bend, Coos Bay, Corvallis, Eugene, La Grande, Monmouth, Portland and St. Helens
Exam Pass: Praxis PPST: Reading (174), Writing (171), and Mathematics (175). CBEST: Total score of 123. The lowest possible score for passing a content area is 37, provided the passing total score of 123 is achieved.
Exam Repeat: Unlimited.
Continuing Ed Requirements: Continuing Professional Development for Licensure Renewal

Insurance Requirements: None
Prerequisites: 1. Complete a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
2. Complete approved teacher education program; OR hold a current license issued by another state and valid for the endorsement area.
3. Must pass either the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) OR the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) OR verify completion of a doctorate degree through a regionally accredited college or university.
4. Pass subject matter exam(s) in endorsement area(s) or verify five years of successful full-time employment in a licensed position in an out-of-state public school or private regionally accredited school. Together with transcripts which meet TSPC's academic preparation requirments in lieu of tests.
