Description: There are roughly 400 U.S. National Parks that are looked after by the National Park Service. These national parks are very diverse as shown by their variety of designations: national park, national preserve, national monument, national memorial, national historic site, national seashore, and national battlefield. Generally a permit is required to visit a park in addition, many activities require an additional permit. At nps.gov you can find links to all these parks Websites. You can search the parks by name, location, activity, or by topic. Each park Website is laid out with a similar structure and look to it. Information on park fees, reservations, and permits can be found in the "Fees & Reservations" section under the "Plan your Visit" menu item. For the park entrance permit, you can either buy a permit for each park you visit, or you can buy one of the annual Interagency passes that covers entrance fees or standard amenity fees at sites managed by USDA FS, NPS, USFWS, BLM and Reclamation (all public lands) for one year. You can find information, fees, and online purchase of the annual Interagency passes at the National Parks and Federal Recreational lands Annual Pass Website.
