On August 16th, 2006, New Jersey’s original Bill of Rights left the state for the second time since its receipt by the State Legislature in 1789. The large, framed manuscript joined the four-page Ratification of the United States Constitution for a short trip to Philadelphia, where it was digitally scanned and is now available on the web. See additional photos. |

Major Addition to the Documentary Treasures on the Web
The State Archives added a new section to its Documentary Treasures on the web relating to New Jersey’s original federal charters and amendment ratifications. There are now 170 new web-pages of images and transcriptions of New Jersey’s manuscript Ratification Convention Minutes, Engrossed Ratification, Bill of Rights, and the various actions of the State Legislature relative to the 27 constitutional amendments. We hope this will prove a useful online resource for historians, educators, librarians and archivists. To view the new pages, start here. |
