Description: Veterinarians diagnose and treat animal medical problems. May engage in a particular function, such as research and development, consultations, administration, technical writing, sale or production of commercial products, or render technical services to commercial firms or other organizations.

Fees - application, exam, etc.:  Application: $75.
Renewal: $100 yearly.

Examination Information:
  • Exam Time: Second week of December and April. Deadline: 60-65 days prior to exam (National Board Exam and Clinical Competency Test).
  • Exam Locs: Portland.
  • Exam Pass: Raw Criterion Score 425.
  • Exam Repeat: Exam may be taken in another state and score transferred to Oregon.
Continuing Ed Requirements: 30 hours per two year interval due in odd numbered years.
Bonding Requirements: None
Insurance Requirements: None
Prerequisites:
  • Be a graduate of a veterinary college or a veterinary department of a university or college accredited by American Veterinarian Medical Association.
  • Complete at least one year in active practice in another state or have served at least a one-year internship under supervision of an Oregon licensed veterinarian.
  • Satisfactorily pass the National Board Exam, the Clinical Competency Test, and the State Jurisprudence Exam (open-book, by mail).

Renewals: Renewal application will be mailed prior to due date to most recent address of valid license holder.

Met continuing education requirements.
