Description: A Non-Friable Asbestos Notification must be submitted to the Department of Environmental Quality Air Quality Division if:

1. The material being removed contains 1% or more asbestos.
2. The material is non-friable, meaning it can not be crumbled, pulverized or reduced to powder by hand pressure or if it is a non-friable material that is not worn, weathered, shattered, or mishandled. If the material is friable, a Friable Asbestos Removal Notification is required.

Owners of a single private residence, occupied by the owner, removing asbestos from their own home are exempted from the requirements.
