Description: |
No person born after July 1, 1968 shall trap mammals with commercial fur value unless the person has in possession a certificate issued by the commission indicating that the person has satisfactorily completed a course in trapper education. When the course is completed a brand number is registered and the brand number tag serves as the certification of completion.
The course is not required of persons trapping on land owned or leased by that person, the person's immediate family, or a person's agent who is controlling damage to livestock or agricultural crops. |

Examination Information: |
An exam is required. The dept. of Fish and Wildlife, Hunter Education office will supply study materials for the course. Courses are to be completed at home. Testing will take place at ODFW offices throughout the state. A furtakers license will be issued by the Portland ODFW office after the test has been successsfully completed and mailed to Portland. |
