This license allows the holder to maintain, repair, and replace electrical appliances, light switches and fixtures, fans, receptacles, and fluorescent ballasts on the premises of commercial office buildings, buildings occupied by the state, a local government entity, or facilities designated by the Building Codes Division in electrical systems not exceeding 300 volts to ground.

Examination Information: |
Applicants approved to take an examination will be sent a "Letter of Authorization." This letter will explain the procedure for taking the examination and the address and telephone number of the test site selected.
Examination date and time is scheduled by the applicant with the test site office personnel. Upon arrival at the test site, the applicant must provide photo identification and a Letter of Authorization. If the examination is not taken within 60 days of the date of the authorization letter the applicant must submit a re-application form with the appropriate fee to schedule another exam date.
If the applicant fails the exam they may re-apply at anytime and test no sooner than 30 days after each failed exam.
Applicants are requested to bring their own pencils and calculator; scratch paper will be provided. Programmable calculators and laptop computers are not permitted.
Please allow two weeks for Building Codes Division to grade exams. Do not contact the test location for grade results. The Building Codes Division will mail notification of grade results to the applicant. Licenses will be issued after the applicant has passed the examination.
Ltd. Building Maintenance Electrician: Open-book examination, 28 multiple-choice questions (two-hour time limit).

Prerequisites: |
A.The minimum work hours under each subject shall not be less than the hours specified. No more than 300 percent credit shall be allowed under subjects (a) through (f) for any one subject: (a) Electrical appliances, 100 hours (b) Light switches, 250 hours (c) Light fixtures, 200 hours (d) Fans, 100 hours (e) Receptacles, 250 hours (f) Fluorescent Ballasts, 300 hours B. Equivalent experience, as outlined in OAR 918-282 0260(3). C. Submit a copy of your high school diploma or transcript, a GED certificate, or a military record (DD214) showing proof of high school completion. D. Pass a written examination. |
