Description: |
Tax Preparers prepare tax returns for individuals or small businesses. They may work in an office or established tax return firm. They do not have the background or responsibilities of an accredited accountant or Certified Public Accountant and they must work under the direction of a Tax Consultant or Certified Public Accountant.

Examination Information: |
Exam Time: December, other wise by appointment through community colleges statewide. Exam Locs: Salem Exam Pass: 75 percent or higher. Exam Repeat: Retake as necessary.

Continuing Ed Requirements: |
30 clock-hours of acceptable education during the license year. |
Prerequisites: |
1. Be at least 18 years old. 2. Be a high school graduate or have a GED. 3. Successfully complete Board-approved 80-class-hour course on basic tax law. 4. Pass Board exam on basic tax law and practice. |
