Massage Therapists use on the body pressure, friction, stroking, tapping or kneading, vibration or stretching by manual or mechanical means or gymnastics, with or without appliances such as vibrators, infrared heat, sun lamps and external baths, and with or without lubricants such as salts, powders, liquids or creams for the purpose of, but not limited to, maintaining good physical condition.

Practical: Offered Tuesdays and Wednesdays excluding Holidays. Candidates are scheduled based on availability in the order in which they are received and approved.

25 hours of continuing education are required at renewal time, must include CPR (see renewal form for details). "Contact hours" in excess of the required amount may be carried over for one renewal period.

| Prerequisites: |
1. Educational requirements: A minimum of 200 hours of health sciences to include Anatomy and Physiology, Pathology and Kinesiology. A minimum of 300 hours of Massage Theory and Practical Application, Clinical Practice, Business Development, Communication and Ethics, Sanitation and Hydrotherapy. Official Transcripts will be needed to show the 500 in-class hours.
2. Have current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)certification.
3. Pass Board approved written exam, practical exam and jurisprudence exam. |
