Description: This is the permit required to operate a municipal solid waste landfill. 'Municipal solid waste landfill" means a discrete area of land or an excavation that receives domestic solid waste and that is not a land application unit, surface impoundment, injection well, or waste pile, as those terms are defined under '257.2 of 40 CFR, Part 257. It may also receive other types of wastes such as nonhazardous sludge, hazardous waste from conditionally exempt small quantity generators, construction and demolition waste, and industrial solid waste.

Fees - application, exam, etc.:  Refer to Fees for DEQ Solid Waste Disposal Site Permits to determine the amount of fees that must accompany your application. The application fee covers costs associated with processing the application. The annual compliance fee, if required, covers costs to DEQ for oversight for compliance and enforcement at permitted facilities. Make your check payable to Oregon DEQ. If the fee is not attached, the application will be returned.

Required Documentation: A land use compatibility statement must be submitted with your application. See Land Use Compatibility Statements.
Additional Information: Financial assurance may be required to be in place before a permit can be issued. Please refer to OAR 340-94-0140. There are some exceptions to this requirement. If you have questions please contact your local DEQ regional office.
